From the Bible, the book of Romans 12:16 says, "Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited."
This verse struck me at the very core of my heart! I realize I have been avoiding the uncool people! I've been carrying my pride around and looking down at certain people! I believe it's time for me to change and learn to be meek and humble.
This verse reminds us to look after loners and be a friend to people who are considered uncool! We are here to change the world! And it starts from us, slowly impacting hearts one by one! So why not let us look after people who are always alone, people who are socially rejected by others and even the physically rejected people! I believe that when we spend time with them, they will be encouraged!
I myself have been socially rejected in many ways too. People would always reject me because my body ain't built like them, because I used to look like a nerdy dude and because my knowledge in so many things was lacking. People would always walk away from me, and I had to find new friends to talk to. But of course, that didn't stop me to grow and learn that what those people actually did to me was not right! We shouldn't just ignore a person because he/she isn't physically same like everyone else or even because he/she just ain't cool like us! I personally knew that I had God, and that was all I needed to get me through all the social rejections. But what if that person isn't like me? What if he/she doesn't know God? Then I believe it is our duty to care for them, and telling them how much God loves them!
We are the followers of Christ! We are the salt and light of the world! It is our duty to care for one another! Hence, let us love our neighbors as we love ourselves! From today onwards, try spending more time with the uncool people, and I believe God will teach you countless of life-long values! Remember not to let your pride overtake your heart!
This verse also reminds us to be a peacemaker, not a guy/girl who pick fights! We have to live in harmony with one another! Yes sometimes we may have slight conflicts here and there, conflicts and arguments are unavoidable and we will always encounter them in our daily lives. Remember, when the conflict has started, you can choose to forgive one another and learn from your mistakes =)
In conclusion, I encourage all of us to look after loners and be a friend to people who are considered uncool as well as being a peacemaker and not a guy who pick fights =)
