The people in authority might be your parents, teachers, leaders, the government, an older friend or even God! Remember: Do not submit to them if they ask you to commit to their evil plans and schemes (I'm pretty sure you know what I mean).
From the Bible, the book of Romans 13:1 says, "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."
Yes you read that right! Let's speak in terms of our country. If God didn't wanted us to have governments to govern us, then we wouldn't have them! But God established kings, prime ministers, presidents, sultanates and a body of government to govern the people! Hence, we have to submit to the law they put out for us! Submit in the right way in God's eyes of course =)
Let's speak in terms of parents. Most of the time our parents will tell us to complete house chores, do our homework, study, don't stay out so late, inform them your whereabouts every second, hang out with certain friend they believe are good people, attend tuition, and the most used, "I'm your father/ I'm your mother!" Don't argue with them! I believe that God has given us parents for a reason! They are here to teach us, guide us and nurture us so that we will grow to be fine, mature men! It is our responsibility to listen to them, even when at times they might go over the top! They are still our parents =)
I hope you will learn to submit to people who are in authority, with discernment of course =) Remember to seek and pray for discernment and wisdom =)
