In Genesis 48, Jacob (Also known as Israel) gave his blessings to Joseph (It is a custom for fathers to give blessings to their son). One word that from one verse that speaks out a lot was verse 15.
Genesis 48:15 says, ""May the God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has been my Shepherd all my life to this day..."
Notice the word Shepherd?
The thing about sheep is they're totally dependent on their shepherd and completely vulnerable apart from him. We'll find ourselves bleating helplessly like sheep if we try living apart from God.
Isaiah 50:10 says, “Who among you fears the LORD? Who obeys the voice of His Servant? Who walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD and rely upon his God.”
Isaiah 50:11 says, “But instead, some of you want to light your own fires and make your own light. So , go, walk in the light of your fires, and trust your own light to guide you. But this is what you will receive from me: You will lie down in a place of pain.”
It's time to trust the Shepherd, because our Shepherd knows us inside out and will always be there to protect and provide for us. Remember not to follow your own understanding, but always commit everything to His hands.
P.S: Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
