I'd have to admit, I haven't been following God obediently. I have not kept in prayer and in communication with God for quite a while. I have let the things of this world sway me and made myself indulge in the beautiful things of this world. Yes there's nothing wrong with appreciating the things of this world that God has given us. But once it starts taking your time away from God, then you'll know there's something wrong somewhere. And that's exactly what's happening to me. The devil will keep tempting me, attacking me and distancing me from God, and though I repeat this over and over again, it's time for me to rise and step up for God too.
Believing that Jesus is the Messiah and He saved us from our sin is not enough! The Bible did mention that lukewarm Christians will not be saved at all!
From Revelation 3:15-16, "I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth."
You can choose, whether to let the things of this world fill your entire mind, or balance it out! We do not live by bread alone!
Romans 12:2 says, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will."
This verse is talking about the bad things of the world, such as sin! Yes it's tempting every once in awhile to get a little pleasure from the little things that seems as if there is no harm in doing it, but have we ever consider the potential of that little mistake that might ruin and destroy the future ahead of our lives? It's time to think!
Matthew 16:26 says, "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?"
1 John 2:15-16 says, "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world-the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions-is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides abides forever."
So many people has fallen to this trap! Look at all the dancers, actors, and famous people in the world! They are all pursuing fame, power, glory, money and respect for themselves!
If you're planning to get famous first and bring the Good News to the world, then you better forget it because the things of this world will consume you and convince you that you don't need God!
Matthew 5:13 says, "You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet."
Deuteronomy 30:19 says, "... I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days ..."
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I hope you'll hang on to Him through difficult situations and doubtful moments. It's never too late to turn to Him and ask Him for forgiveness and help! Don't you want Him to tell you that you did a great job because you trusted Him? I'm sure you do! So do I! I really want to hear His voice at the end of the journey of my life saying to me, "Well done, good and faithful servant of Christ! You have done what I have asked you to do! Well done!"
Have faith =)
