Light Of The World!

Hello there, world! I'm Yong Zhen Kheng a.k.a King! I'm a 24 young man who has given my life to God! I face plenty of challenges and mountains daily, but it is by the grace of God that I'm able to stand tall with His strength in such a world that we live in. "Light Of The World!" is the name of my blog. Because in such a dark world that we live in, everyone is looking for that something somewhere somehow to fill and satisfy their souls. And that is where the Word of God comes in, where love and hope are always present and living. God is the Light of the world, and my prayer is that we will go beyond the call of duty to show love to the people around us with the love that He has shown us - That they may know just how real and amazing our God is! Repent: Turn Away From Sin And From Anything That's Not Pleasing To God


Dear faithful brothers and sisters in Christ! Today I would like to encourage you to repent! To turn away from sin and from anything that's not pleasing to God! You might have heard this 1000 times, but how many times do you practice it? There's so many verses reminding us to repent in the Bible, let me just take this one.

From the Bible, the book of Acts 17:30 says, "In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent."

Now, he commands all people everywhere to repent! Repent therefore, and you will be saved! You see, we can't tell people that we believe in Jesus and yet keep on sinning! We'll just be contradicting ourselves and destroying the faith of other believers!

Try to remind yourself everyday to cling to what is good, and hate evil! It's time for all of us to repent and do what is right in the Lord's eyes! Remember, you can run, but you can't hide! God always sees our hearts and knows our intentions even before we execute them! It's better to obey God than to sin against the Lord =)

Remember to flee from sin, and not resist sin! Because we are all really weak, and if we try to resist sin we will always fall! Even the wisest man will fall when he tries to resist sin! Satan knows exactly what your weakness is, and he will put the perfect bait to lure you to sin. When you recognize that, it's time to run away from those temptations and sin and run to God!

In conclusion, it's time for all of us to repent and turn away from sin and anything that's not pleasing to God! If I list them out, it'll take days! I believe that you already know what's not pleasing to God, what is sin and what is wrong in the Lord's eyes! If you're having trouble differentiating what is right and wrong to God, then I encourage you to pray to God to grant you discernment, wisdom and knowledge. All the best in your journey of life =)

Look Out For The Needs, Desires And Well-Being Of Weaker People



Dear ambassadors of Christ, today I would like to talk about looking out for the needs, desires and well-being of weaker people. I am going to keep this simple and short.

From the Bible, the book of Romans 15:1-2 says, "We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up."

Do you have a friend who is weak at something? Maybe emotionally weak? Physically weak? Or even mentally weak? Well, we should teach them, help them and be there for them rather than taking advantage of them!

Remember the people who helped you grow spiritually when you were a young Christian, the ones who answered your questions, helped you work through your doubts and warned you when they saw things in your life that didn't belong there? I want you to do the same thing for other new Christians. Everything has to start somewhere, and it starts from us.

In conclusion, never ever forget to look out for the needs, desires and well-being of weaker people! Remember, God sees and knows our hearts =)

Give Up Activities Or Habits That Cause Other Believers To Stumble


Dear soldiers of Christ, today I want to walk about giving up activities or habits that causes other believers to stumble! Now you might be thinking what kind of activities would cause other believers to stumble?

Since I'm a guy, I guess it would be easier for me to relate to some guy examples! Here's a few examples of them:
- Touching a girl everywhere intentionally (Definitely a no no unless she's your wife)
- Staring at girls who wear skimpy clothes (But it's just staring! Well, lust and sinful desires will linger around you so you better forget it)
- Taking something which is not yours (People are always observing, looking and noticing everything you do, even you stealing will cause them to stumble)
- Hang out with only cool people (What about the uncool people? They will feel as if they are not accepted at all, hence their faith will stumble!)

From the Bible, the book of Romans 14:15 says, "If your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died."

Now this verse is serious about you giving up habits that causes people to stumble! You must practice and learn to think for other people too rather than yourself only! Remember, there are people who looks up to you =)

In conclusion, I just want to remind all of us to think twice and reconsider our actions before doing them, because we never know if those actions might lead people further away from God! =)

Stop Judging And Criticizing Other Christians


After going through Romans 14:1-3, I came across Romans 14:4. I believe it is not right for us to judge and criticize other Christians! Let me explain to you why.

From the Bible, the book of Romans 14:4 says, "Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand."

I myself used to judge and criticize other Christians (Pretty long ago). Whenever one of them make a mistake, I would judge them and tell myself they are evil people and don't deserve to live. Well yeah, I was that bad pretty long ago. I would criticize other people while not noticing I was doing the same too! There were plenty of criticisms and judgement I gave onto Christians whom I have met when I was much younger, but of course I've grown and have learned from it.

Which is why today I just want to encourage you that it is not right to judge people! Stop judging and criticizing other Christians! No one is holy, no one is perfect and no one is good! All have fall short of the glory of God! Jesus died for us although we were sinners, if He could forgive us then I believe we can forgive other Christians who makes mistakes =)

Let God be the judge!

From the Bible, the book of Ecclesiastes 3:17 says, "..God will judge both the righteous man and the wicked man, for a time for every matter and for every deed is there. "

Luke 6:37 says, "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven."

Matthew 7:1-5 says, "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank our of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

Be Patient With Uptight And Immature Christians


Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today I would like to encourage you to be patient with uptight and immature Christians. What does it mean to be uptight and immature? A person who is uptight normally feels tense or nervous in certain situations. A person whose faith is immature means that either she/he is new to Christianity, or even does not think in different perspectives or accept other people's views about the faith. And what are we to do with them? Be patient with them =)

From the Bible, the book of Romans 14:1-3 says, "Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgement on disputable matters. One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him."

Sometimes we can get so fed up with the way some of the Christians around us think, or maybe the way they talk about something. Sometimes we might feel as if they are so immature and we know way more than them. When that feeling comes, remember not to judge them but to accept them! Remember, we were all once immature too! Our faith were all immature and we were all new to Christianity at one point of our lives! The growing of faith takes time and learning. While our faith were still immature, there were people who accepted us for our weak faith and taught us! Hence, we should do the same to others too!

Remember to be patient with uptight and immature Christians the next time you encounter them, try to teach them and encourage them to continue to grow in faith, this will definitely encourage them =)

Let God Get Revenge And Settle Scores, Not You


Good day brothers and sisters in Christ! Today, I would like to talk about letting God settling the score, not you!

From the Bible, the book of Romans 12:19 says, "Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord."

Today while I was in church, I noticed a brother named Nicholas was hurting and looking really upset about something. I quickly went up to him and asked him if he was okay, and tears started rolling down his eyes. I knew something was wrong, hence I gave him time to share. He started talking about how discouraged he was: One of his friends told him that all the students in his school are useless, and of course he knew it wasn't true. But he didn't retaliate nor fought with that guy, because he knew it was not right to do so. He just held it in his heart until I asked him.

One thing he did right in God's eyes was not retaliating nor fighting back with that guy. He let God settle the score! After encouraging and praying for him, he felt much better as if he's gotten over it! Well, he did! And I could see the relief and joy in his eyes because He knew God cares for Him!

If you're finding difficulties in letting God settling the score and wanting to settle it on your own, remind yourself of Romans 12:19 as written above. If you hate what that person did, learn to forgive and love that person. You see, we're all sinful people and we do make mistakes. Nobody has never made a mistake in their lives! I myself have made countless mistakes, and have been forgiven many times too!

Can you "love the sinner and hate the sin"?

I just want to encourage you to let God get revenge and settle scores, not you. Because if you try to settle scores on your own, you might feel good at first, but you'll end up feeling bad after awhile =)

Learn To Submit To People In Authority


Yes, no matter how sick and tired you are of this line, you will still have to learn to submit to people in authority!

The people in authority might be your parents, teachers, leaders, the government, an older friend or even God! Remember: Do not submit to them if they ask you to commit to their evil plans and schemes (I'm pretty sure you know what I mean).

From the Bible, the book of Romans 13:1 says, "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."

Yes you read that right! Let's speak in terms of our country. If God didn't wanted us to have governments to govern us, then we wouldn't have them! But God established kings, prime ministers, presidents, sultanates and a body of government to govern the people! Hence, we have to submit to the law they put out for us! Submit in the right way in God's eyes of course =)

Let's speak in terms of parents. Most of the time our parents will tell us to complete house chores, do our homework, study, don't stay out so late, inform them your whereabouts every second, hang out with certain friend they believe are good people, attend tuition, and the most used, "I'm your father/ I'm your mother!" Don't argue with them! I believe that God has given us parents for a reason! They are here to teach us, guide us and nurture us so that we will grow to be fine, mature men! It is our responsibility to listen to them, even when at times they might go over the top! They are still our parents =)

I hope you will learn to submit to people who are in authority, with discernment of course =) Remember to seek and pray for discernment and wisdom =)

Go The Extra Mile To Resolve Conflicts


From the Bible, the book of Romans 12:18, it says, "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."

Live at peace with everyone? Phew! That's a tough call, unless you never had any conflict at all! So what do I do to live with peace with everyone? Well, if you know of an unresolved conflict you had with someone, instead of waiting for that person to say sorry why not you take the first step to say sorry, or if he/she have done you wrong, why not you take the first step to tell that person "I forgive you!"? We all make mistakes, sometimes our mistakes are small, and sometimes they are big! We can never rewind time nor undo our mistakes, but we can learn from them and forgive one another! It's never easy to take the first step, but remind yourself that it is the right thing to do. What if that person never came to you and said sorry? Or you never said sorry? Imagine all the vengeance, fury and hate either one of you or both of you will store in your heart!

Dear brothers and sisters, I believe it's time for us to take that first step, to take the initiative and go the extra mile to resolve conflicts! =)

Do Not Be Proud, Live In Harmony



Dear ambassadors of Christ!

From the Bible, the book of Romans 12:16 says, "Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited."

This verse struck me at the very core of my heart! I realize I have been avoiding the uncool people! I've been carrying my pride around and looking down at certain people! I believe it's time for me to change and learn to be meek and humble.

This verse reminds us to look after loners and be a friend to people who are considered uncool! We are here to change the world! And it starts from us, slowly impacting hearts one by one! So why not let us look after people who are always alone, people who are socially rejected by others and even the physically rejected people! I believe that when we spend time with them, they will be encouraged!

I myself have been socially rejected in many ways too. People would always reject me because my body ain't built like them, because I used to look like a nerdy dude and because my knowledge in so many things was lacking. People would always walk away from me, and I had to find new friends to talk to. But of course, that didn't stop me to grow and learn that what those people actually did to me was not right! We shouldn't just ignore a person because he/she isn't physically same like everyone else or even because he/she just ain't cool like us! I personally knew that I had God, and that was all I needed to get me through all the social rejections. But what if that person isn't like me? What if he/she doesn't know God? Then I believe it is our duty to care for them, and telling them how much God loves them!

We are the followers of Christ! We are the salt and light of the world! It is our duty to care for one another! Hence, let us love our neighbors as we love ourselves! From today onwards, try spending more time with the uncool people, and I believe God will teach you countless of life-long values! Remember not to let your pride overtake your heart!

This verse also reminds us to be a peacemaker, not a guy/girl who pick fights! We have to live in harmony with one another! Yes sometimes we may have slight conflicts here and there, conflicts and arguments are unavoidable and we will always encounter them in our daily lives. Remember, when the conflict has started, you can choose to forgive one another and learn from your mistakes =)

In conclusion, I encourage all of us to look after loners and be a friend to people who are considered uncool as well as being a peacemaker and not a guy who pick fights =)

Pray For The People Who Give You The Most Grief



Hey there brothers and sisters in Christ! No matter how many times we fail in life; despite our countless mistakes and our circumstances in life, God still forgives us and look at us past our sins! Just so you know, Jesus has already won the battle for us! All we have to do now is to do His will on earth (Be the light of the world) and stay strong in the Lord =)

Today, I would like to remind all of us about praying for the people who gives us the most grief.

From the Bible, the book of Romans 12:14 says, "Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse".

You might be wondering how are we suppose to pray for people who bring us trouble, accuses and blames us, find fault from us when we are innocent and all those crazy stuffs! Well, it definitely isn't easy but it is the right thing we all should do! Remember Matthew 5:44? It says, "But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you". This was what Jesus told his disciples! He calls on all of us as followers of Christ to preach and practice Jesus' command to love our enemies!

But I just can't forgive what he/she did to me! I'm emotionally hurt because of him.

Hey! Jesus was able to forgive all those men who persecuted Him! He was able to forgive the whole of humanity because He loved us and still loves us! When he was hanging on the cross, He even cried out "Forgive them Father, for they do not know what they are doing" - Luke 23:34. I believe that if Jesus forgave all of us, loved all of us despite our sinful nature, we can also learn to forgive and love our enemies by setting Jesus as an example in our lives =)

Remember, whenever someone discourages you, ill-treats you, hurt you or even make a mess out of your life, you should forgive and pray for that person! Remember, prayer is a very powerful weapon, it can change lives and even your life as you pray for that person!

If there's one thing I would like to say today, it's "Press On".

This is what my pastor, Senior Pastor Reynold would always say to anyone who is struggling or facing difficulties in life. When that time comes, when it seems as if the world is crushing you down, you just have to press on! Press on with God because He will guide you every step of your life! For our God is a GOD OF POSSIBILITIES AND MIRACLES! All you have to do is just BELIEVE in HIM =)

Hebrews 12:2 says, "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith..."

Believe

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I hope you're doing great. And if you're not, I hope the situations in your life will slowly get better. Keep On Holding On To God!

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, all you gotta do is just believe in Him! He's our Provider, our King, our Comforter, our Strength and He is the reason we are living for! Without Him, we would not be breathing and living here on this planet! It's time to recognize that God is Sovereign above all, that He should be praised and forever be glorified! I believe it's time we stay strong constantly in the LORD, never forgetting His promises and mercy towards us! He loves us so much and you just have to trust Him! I want you to know that no matter how many times life may fail you, God still loves you despite all the circumstances! He's at your doorstep knocking on the door, all you have to do is just open the door and let Him into your heart!

Here's a prayer for all the broken-hearted people, pray along with these words, "Dear Lord, I know that I am not perfect and so is this world. I believe that despite my circumstances in life, You will always guide me every single step of my life. Have favour on me and guide me as I walk through the valleys of darkness. I know that there will be seasons of laughter, joy and happiness as well as seasons of pain, sorrow and hurt. When I fall down, give me strength to stand up again to glorify Your Name. For it is You Lord that I am living for, You are the reason why I'm here today! So Father, please forgive me for my sins for I know that I am a sinner and have fallen short of the glory of God. Please remind me everyday that you are always with me, that the Holy Spirit is living within me. I believe in You Lord Jesus, may your mercy and love and grace be with me till the end of my life. Dear God, at the end of the day I want to hear you say to me 'Well done, good and faithful servant, for you have done what I have asked you to do'. Please teach me to trust You, to rely upon You and always honour You in all I do. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen!"

Using Your Gifts To Bless Others

Do you have a gift? A special gift in life? Or even a normal gift? Well, I have some special and normal gifts, let me share them with you.

I have the gift of composing music and songs! Hence, I compose many of them and let people hear them! When they hear it, most of them tells me the songs I created are funny, interesting and they feel great after hearing them! And obviously after all those positive stuffs, they would say that I'm a pretty good composer. Well, I would tell them that all credits, glory and honor goes to God because if He didn't gave me this gift of music, I wouldn't create anything at all! I'm glad to bless people with such a crazy and amazing gift =)

In addition, I was having dinner with some of the Youths from church (Ivan, CJ, Aaron and Huey Wern a.k.a Bubbles). While eating, there was this old woman holding a stick to support herself walked in front of our table asking for money. Obviously, she wasn't paid much attention to due to all the scam nowadays. But a voice just told me from the inside of my heart, saying "King, it starts from here. If you wanna do something great, it gotta start from these small things!" Instantly, I took out just RM1 and put it into her cup of money. Then I told her that Jesus loves her, and she instantly lit up with a smile and started telling me about Jesus. Couldn't really hear what she say, but after that I felt great because I knew I did a good deed for the LORD!

Also, I realized that being present for people is very important! One of the greatest gifts you can have is time, because when you spend time with a person, you can't buy back that time, because that time you used has been spent on whoever you have spent time with! Time is precious, and every single second counts! Hence, today I spent time with a friend of mine Huey Wern a.k.a Bubbles, sharing with one another! And I feel great, never regretting any second even though I know that moment that passed will never come back!

Adding to that, I have this ability to always learn something from EVERYTHING! A bad movie, a bad situation I'm in, circumstances in life, I always see positive in all of them! I'm always reminding myself that there is always something to learn through all these troubles in life! What do I ask myself when I face these difficulties? "Dear LORD, what are you teaching me through this?" And it works because I know that God is always in control! It's a spiritual gift, because the Holy Spirit is a spiritual gift that God gave us to remind us that Jesus is real!

Finally, I love encouraging people. Because when I encourage people, I feel encouraged knowing that I encourage somebody!

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ! I just want you to know, that Jesus loves you! He wants you to be strong for Him! He wants you to light up for Him! He wants you to be salt and light to the world! Hence my blog title "Light Of The World". Whatever gifts and skills in life He has given you, be it a small one or a big one, use them to glorify His name! Even if it's just telling somebody that Jesus loves him/her, a small encouragement can mean so much to that person!

It is the small things in life that matters. And of course, the big things =)

The Graph Of Life

The graph of life? Yes you've read it right.

A friend of mine told me that if she made a graph about her life right now, it would be scaling up and down constantly. If it's high, it's not really that high; but if it's low then it's really low.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, I would like to encourage you that our lives will not always scale and remain at the top of the graph. We will be constantly be disappointed with failures, mistakes and all the unexpected things in life. It's a part and parcel of life, all of us will go through it. Remember: There is always something to be learned from every situation.

Many times in college, whenever I head to the toilet for a break, I will always see physically deformed people and it makes my heart cries. I would imagine what if I were them? Would I still see things the way I see now? I was hurting inside and wanted to help them get back their natural looks deformed body parts, but I didn't know what to do but to watch them. They are always smiling, looking happy and accepting themselves even though people don't often appreciate life the way they do. And I feel really happy that God can give such joy to these people. Often I ask myself, why not me? Why am I normal but these people not? Why not me? But I've finally realized that God had a purpose for me, He wants me to encourage people and tell them about how much Jesus loves them by sharing how much God has touched me in my life.

I would like to encourage you that whatever you have in life right now, whatever you're going through in life right now, it's not the end of your life but you're going to go through more disappointments, make more mistakes and experience more failures in the future. We live in a broken world, hence the graph of our lives will never be at the top for a long time, it will only reach there and go back down. But don't give up, because we're waiting on the LORD! He is our strength, and strength will rise as we wait upon the LORD!

When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place =)

Challenges will keep coming, you'll constantly face difficulties in life and sometimes even wonder why has God put these problems in your life. But remember that Deuteronomy 31:6 says, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you." =)
